June 2026 Officer of the Month

Congratulations to Officer Patrick Morin for being selected as the Officer of the Month for June 2026!

Prior to joining the UNC Charlotte Police Department in March 2024, Officer Morin served with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, bringing valuable law enforcement experience and knowledge to our agency. Since joining the Department, he has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic, arriving early for each shift prepared to meet the day’s challenges. His professionalism, reliability and positive attitude have earned the respect of his fellow officers, while his team-oriented approach reflects a genuine commitment to serving both the department and the University community.

Officer Morin is well known for his willingness to take on complex investigations and challenging calls for service. He approaches every assignment with confidence, attention to detail and sound judgment, ensuring thorough and professional outcomes. Whether enforcing the law or University policies, he consistently treats everyone with fairness and respect while helping maintain a safe and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors.

A recent incident exemplifies Officer Morin’s commitment to service and his ability to build meaningful relationships within the community. In early June, Officer Morin responded to a call regarding a disabled vehicle after a driver experienced a flat tire. Although he was unable to remove the tire due to an over-tightened lug nut, he remained committed to assisting the driver by helping relocate the vehicle to Union Deck so it could be safely towed.

The following day, Officer Morin responded to a domestic violence call and immediately recognized the victim as the same individual he had assisted the previous day. After officers located and arrested the suspect, Officer Morin continued to support the victim beyond the initial investigation. He explained the process for obtaining a Domestic Violence Protective Order (50B) and offered to personally escort her to the courthouse.

This incident demonstrates that even seemingly routine calls for service can have a profound impact. By taking the time to assist a stranded motorist with compassion and professionalism, Officer Morin established a relationship that ultimately encouraged the victim to seek protection and take important steps toward her safety. His actions exemplify the Department’s commitment to community policing, victim advocacy and service beyond the initial call for assistance.

This is the first time Officer Morin has received this honor. With this achievement, he is eligible for consideration for the Officer of the Year Award.
