If you are the victim or a witness of a crime on campus it is extremely important that you file a report with the Campus Police. Filing a report is easy. Simply call 704-687-2200 or stop by the Police Department which is located at 9151 Cameron Blvd, directly across from the Student Health Center.
UNC Charlotte has an independent and dedicated police force, in accordance with NC Department of Justice Training and Standards, which patrols the university campus and an extended jurisdiction with CMPD. UNC Charlotte Police officers patrol in both marked and unmarked patrol cars, on motorcycle, on bicycle and on foot throughout the campus. The UNC Charlotte Police patrol vehicles, both marked and unmarked, are equipped with blue lights and siren/public address system to alert vehicular drivers and pedestrians to the intentions of the patrol officer. The UNC Charlotte Police marked patrol vehicles are equipped with video/audio recording equipment for officer and citizen safety. Some marked patrol vehicles are equipped the RADAR speed detecting systems.
- Find a safe well lit area and come to a complete stop placing the vehicle in Park (Generally to the right side of the road)
- Driver of vehicle may turn interior light on to assist officers visibility to the interior of passenger area
- Occupants of the vehicle should refrain from moving around in the passenger area of the vehicle
- Occupants should keep hands visible to the officer as they approach (There may be multiple officers approaching a vehicle)
- Driver should be prepared to supply the officer with a driver’s license and the vehicle’s registration
- The officer may request you sign the NC Uniform Citation (Failure to sign the citation does not constitute Resist, Obstruct and Delay a Public Officer and refusal to sign the citation is not a crime)
- The officer will present you with a PINK copy of the citation
- The officer will explain the charge indicated on the citation and advise you of the court date assigned by the officer (Court Date may be Mandatory)
- Mandatory Court Dates require you appear before a judge at the Mecklenburg County Court House 801 East 4th Street, Charlotte, NC 28202-2027. Find out more.
- Waivable Misdemeanors and Infractions are not a mandatory court appearances and these charges may be handled prior to the court date via Payment by Mail or In Person (This will result in a plea of Guilty)
- Payment in Person-Deliver your payment and the citation to the office of the Clerk of Superior Court 801 East 4th Street, Charlotte, NC 28202-2027 Payment must be cash, certified check or money order Personal checks will NOT be accepted
- Payment by Mail-Place the citation and payment (certified check or money order, NO CASH, Personal checks will NOT be accepted ) in an envelope, affix a stamp and mail to:

Contact the Special Events Coordinator at least two weeks prior to your event start date. After contacting the coordinator, they will explain all security requirements and charges.
Lost And Found is operated by Police & Public Safety. The office is located in the Facilities Management and Police Building on Cameron Blvd. Our hours of operation are Monday- Friday 8 AM to 5 PM (excluding University recognized Holidays).
When you are a victim of a crime, do not be afraid to report it. Report the crime immediately. UNC Charlotte has fully trained and sworn law enforcement officers that are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. At least four police officers will always be on duty. The UNC Charlotte Police Department also has its own Criminal Investigations Division, comprised of trained detectives who investigate all crimes that occur on campus. If you are in need of police assistance for any reason while on campus, you can contact the UNC Charlotte Police Department at 704-687-2200. If you are near a university landline you can call 911 to speak with a police department representative. On weekdays between the hours of 8 AM- 5 PM, you can stop by the police department located at 9151 Cameron Blvd in the Facilities Management/ Police and Public Safety building. The building is located directly across from the UNC Charlotte Student Health Center. A departmental representative will be happy to assist you by putting you in contact with a police officer if one is needed or desired.
If you have been the victim of a crime, witnessed a crime, or believe a crime is about to occur; contact the UNC Charlotte Police Department immediately and a police officer will be sent to your location to assist you. You can also contact the UNC Charlotte Police Department to report a suspicious person, vehicle, or package. University police also handle all wreck reports and traffic management for the UNC Charlotte campus.
Although we are fully empowered to enforce the laws of North Carolina as sworn Law Enforcement Officers, our jurisdiction is for the campus only. Currently there is a mutual aid agreement between UNC Charlotte PPS and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police department that extends our enforcement powers to areas directly adjacent to campus.

For complaints and safety issues, you should report to the Environmental Heath and Safety Office in Facilities Annex 11, located behind the Police Department. For emergencies, please contact the UNC Charlotte Police Communications at 704-687-2200.

Go to the Parking and Transportation Office located at 9643 Poplar Lane, across from Lot 25 and North Deck.
Copies of incident reports can be obtained at the Police and Public Safety Office located on campus at 9151 Cameron Blvd.
