Security Cameras and Video

This page explains the steps to take to:

  • Request access to view camera live feeds.
  • Request exporting and reviewing of recorded video.
  • Request the addition of a camera or modification of an existing camera on the campus video network

Request Access To View Camera Live Feeds

  1. Read University Policy 715, Security Cameras.
  2. Fill out the form Security Video Operator Access.
  3. Obtain permission signatures from the VC or his/her designee.
  4. Submit completed form to the Security Camera Coordinator for consideration. You may email this form to pps-cameracoordinator@uncc.edu or deliver to the Security Camera Coordinator in Police and Public Safety.
  5. Receive approval or denial for your request. If request is approved, FM FIS will be informed and your access will be granted. Based on the nature of your request, additional information may be needed to set up your computer environment to accommodate the requested access and ensure compliance with University policy and applicable laws

Request Export / Review of recorded video

  1. Read University Policy 715, Security Cameras.
  2. Fill out the form Security Camera Video Review Request.
  3. Obtain permission signatures from the VC or his/her designee.
  4. Submit completed form to the Security Camera Coordinator for consideration. You may email this form to pps-cameracoordinator@uncc.edu or deliver to the Security Camera Coordinator in Police and Public Safety.
  5. Upon approval, your video will be exported by the Security Camera Coordinator or Lock shop personnel and provided for your review.

Request Addition or Modification of Camera(s)

  1. Read University Policy 715, Security Cameras.
  2. Fill out the form Security Camera Installation Request.
  3. Obtain permission signatures from the VC or his/her designee.
  4. Submit completed form to the Security Camera Coordinator for consideration. You may email this form to pps-cameracoordinator@uncc.edu or deliver to the Security Camera Coordinator in Police and Public Safety.
  5. Submit a scope and budget request through Archibus for FM Design Services to accurately reflect the purchase and infrastructure requirements that will need to be funded by your organization.(There is a $300.00 charge for this).
  6. Based on the Scope and Budget provided by FM Design Services, obtain funding for your request from your department.
  7. Contact the Supervisor of the Keys, Locks, Card Access and Video Systems Team, for an analysis of storage requirements required for your cameras. The Supervisor of the Keys, Locks, Card Access, and Video Systems Team, or another member of the team, will work with Technical Operations and Planning to size your camera requirements and find a place on the University’s NVR farm for your cameras to reside.
    (Note: Your new installation may require purchase of an Avigilon Network Video Recorder if adequate storage is not available).
  8. Purchase the equipment through UNC Charlotte Purchasing using our pre-approved pricing model for all Avigilon equipment.
